Hackers stole Bangladesh's central bank's credentials and transferred 111 million dollars from the US Fed to various entities in the Philippines. They'd have gotten a billion, but they made a typo on the name of one of the recipients.
An anonymous investor dubbed "The Dude" has singlehandedly taken over the Turkish stock exchange. The Dude is widely suspected to be an algorithm: “We are in the very early stages, but we know from developed markets that machines always win this game.”
A custom-built robot sent to swim into one of the Fukushima reactor buildings to locate spent fuel rods has died of radiation poisoning. This was the fifth failed attempt. "The technology needed to establish the location of the melted fuel rods in the other three reactors at the plant has not been developed."
