Describe the most interesting place you've ever lived: mission hill in boston. within a mile from about 5 colleges,the museum and the symphony, and two blocks from new england's biggest open air heroin market (next to the big stone church complete with monistary...) lived just up the hill from the church. drafty, poorly heated three story house. used to sleep bundled up in 3 blankets and a big wooly hat and dream of temperate tahoe winters. wake up looking out the window. tree by my window, window tree: twisting bare limbs writhing in winters wind, green leaves floating on springs sweet air, and fall's warm yellow against blue. down the stairs and out the door: no manacured lawns (fortunately) only leaves on damp earth with stone protruding like the tips of iceburgs. roots gnawing at the stone. children gigling in the street and screaming. suprises, irregularity, dark corners and small spaces between houses, peeling layers of paint, leaning fences overgrown by bushes- a dog barking behind the fence as i pass... |
What's your favorite place to visit?: paris is nice. the alps too. i like mammoth.but my favorite place to visit is somewhere i've never been before, so i dont know yet. |
