Emily M (shadow) painted

Once again I’m mining old work for inspiration. Not sure whether to look at that as a virtue or as a weakness. On the one hand it feels like I’m not doing anything new. On the other I’ve built up at least a little bit of good material to work with, over the years.

This is acrylic, because I forgot to prep a canvas for oil before Tuesday came around. Further confirmed in my belief that I don’t like acrylics for most things; they just dry too quickly for me to get anything done. I think I’m going to end up treating this as an underpaint layer, go through with oils and smooth out all the shadows and make sure the subtler bits in the dark are there.
